With the focus on WERs and U values becoming mandatory for windows on 1st October the industry appears to have largely forgotten about doors. Indeed many are not ready for the new legislation at all and there have been moves to postpone its effective implementation.

The House Builders Federation lobbied the Government for a delay because without changes to the Standard Assessment Procedure for the Energy Rating of Dwellings (SAP) being included in new calculations house builders can’t specify final designs. Others lobbied Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, to delay the Part L update. Dr Cable chairs the Government’s Reducing Regulation Committee in a campaign to weed out ineffective or costly measures...[more]
