Peace and tranquility
What's the phrase, ‘may you live interesting times’. How you interpret that depends on your expectations in life. The government has just announced their emergency budget, which being pragmatic is probably the one we should have had after the previous election if it wasn't for the ‘coalition’ - in effect the country is now 5 years behind and playing catch up.
What is interesting, and yes I do get it, to some making a song and dance about the Chancellors speech, is them letting us know they are still there - marketing their entity - the Chancellor was just the latest excuse, the latest backdrop. The loud voices shout out that he didn’t give me this or he didn't give me that. Surely real Government doesn't hand you things, in this case it would be taxpayers' money, but instead good government clears the decks so you can get on and achieve in your own right.
The case in point, it is often raised as a ‘cry out’ in this industry for the government to take money from the taxpayer and give it to the industry. Make the industry a special case when it comes to tax. A little bizarre don't you think - taking money from those that can't afford something to subsidise those that can - the sign of a fit and healthy industry? Surely not!

'Installer fined £5,400 over ‘A+’ misleading claim'
BFRC technical director Gary Morgan was an expert witness in the prosecution of Direct Choice Home Improvements Ltd, Swansea, by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council Trading Standards. The charges included describing windows as ‘A+’ energy efficiency rated that were not. The company admitted this offence, and a number of others, and was fined £3,500 plus costs and ordered to pay £1,900 in compensation to the homeowner.
