As to be expected there is now a rush from internet service providers setting out how to be seen complying with the New General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Laws.

The amusement here is that these services are in fact external data gatherers first (i.e. the web owner provides others with their users data), then helpers to the situation if you could call it that second.
The statement from one of these well know internet portals:
‘We store and protect what you create using our services. This can include: emails you send and receive, contacts you add, your calendar events, your photos and videos, your documents.’
‘We keep the basic information that you give us. This can include your: name, email address and password, birthday, gender, phone number, country’.
Then it goes on to state the nitty-gritty, the contradiction if you like. When you upload, submit, store, send or receive content to or through our services, you give us a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works, communicate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such content. The rights you grant in this license are for the limited purpose of operating, promoting, and improving our services, and to develop new ones.
