Ramblings beside the Coffee machine

Given the Fenestration News is a vehicle for communicating the next big thing to an industry wide audience, you get a feel for trends, then instinctively pick out the winners and the losers. Locks and locking have gained a prominent position recently with the push by Gary Dutton and Brisant-Secure. Aluminium framing is moving back to be a rational choice thanks to Epwin Window Systems and their Stellar product, this sector I am sure will get a further up lift as Sheerline from Garnalex launches. Seeing good looking modern new build homes offered for sale with triple gazed aluminium windows and doors seems to confirm this. PVC has still some marketing left in its colour ranges and more logical flush framing. It’s an endless list of marketing opportunities for the whole industry.

The world from our perspective does at times seem bizarre. An email from Google this morning (04/12/19) tells us one of the top searches in November to arrive at the Fenestration News was for George Williams and one of the most viewed pages was Andy Jones ‘Biting his tongue’. The most viewed page via Google was ‘HST Technologies by HEGLA’. Strange how ten-year-old items are coming up just behind more recent listings. The day to day reality for everyone else can always be checked out on our News Listing page then via the info link.

For some it is always a bumpy road, others are just seeming to be on the button from the get go. Anticipation is rising in expectation of the first 20/20 campaign, then again, you would have to question is that still permissible in light of the new moral code for advertisers? A very left field comment.

Of course, it’s all pause for the moment, we have this bizarre thing called a general election messing with the flow. We have had endless so-called TV debates, that don’t debate or inform but play to the vanity and ego of those involved, for the most part that means the presenter. Put your hands up if you are 100% behind any of the candidates – I didn’t think so. The reality is your vote will go to the choice that is the least shameful, least bad and least distasteful – which is the same as having no choice at all. You could easily liken the pathetic choice on offer to a company holding job interviews for an important post only to find none of them should even have been given an interview let alone a job. A company can of course re-advertise, the electors unfortunately get to lump it or leave it. If only there was such a thing as a proper democracy, people selected the candidates and the people were permitted to choose the candidate that wants to create a framework to release the full potential of everyone – the world would be a better place.
